FayetteKids Child Dedication

"These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." Deuteronomy 6:6-7, NIV.

Child Dedication is an opportunity for parents to publicly acknowledge their commitment to raise their child in the instruction and knowledge of the Lord.

Child Dedication Process

Child Dedication Process

We believe child dedication is a meaningful milestone in establishing your commitment to raise your child to know and follow Jesus. As part of this, we ask parents to prayerfully take time to: identify people who will walk alongside you in this journey, choose a verse to pray over your child, and consider a list of biblical character traits you hope to see developed in their life. Click HERE to start the process and register your child for child dedication.

During your meeting with an Early Childhood team member, you’ll share your faith story, walk through your reflections and preparation, gain a clear understanding of the purpose and process of child dedication, and have space to ask any remaining questions.

This is a time to gather with your community—friends, family, or your small group—either in your home or another setting you choose. Together, read through the Parent/Child Dedication Guide, spend time praying over your child, and speak words of encouragement and blessing into their life.

Three times a year, families who have dedicated their child are invited to be recognized before the congregation. We also invite followers of Jesus in our congregation to commit to partnering with you in prayer as you raise your child.

Yes. Child dedication is not limited to infants; families can choose to dedicate children at various ages.

Parents are committing to raise their child in the knowledge, instruction, and love of the Lord, modeling a Christ-centered life. Friends and family are witnesses to the commitment and share in the responsibility of supporting the family over time through prayer and encouragement. The church community commits to praying for the child and family.

That’s okay. You do not need to be a member or currently part of a community group to participate in child dedication. When we use the word community, we mean a group of believers who know you personally and are willing to walk alongside you as you live out this commitment to raise your child in the Lord.
